The Global Medical Affairs (GMA) organization provides patients, healthcare providers and payers everywhere with the practical and clinically relevant information and solutions they need to use AbbVie products safely and effectively, throughout the product life cycle and the patient’s journey.

Purpose: Provides specialist medical and scientific strategic and operational input into core medical affairs activities such as: health-care professional and provider interactions (Payers, Patients, Prescribers, and Providers); generation of clinical and scientific data (enhancing therapeutic benefit and value); educational initiatives (medical education, data, guidelines, and value proposition); safeguarding patient safety (risk minimization activities and safety surveillance activities).

Works closely with sales, marketing and commercial teams to provide strategic medical input into core brand (product) strategies, and to support medical and marketing activities (promotional material generation and product launches) and market access.

Key responsibilities: Involved in and generation and dissemination of data supporting overall product scientific and business strategy.

Leads scientific communication initiatives to support the Maviret brand Lead medical education activities for HCV.

Develops content and executes on live and on-line medical education programs for HCPs.

Aligns medical education activities with the Scientific Communications platforms Lead congress execution activities Lead the execution of advisory boards: develop objectives and content, present data and execute the events.

Coordinate insight gathering globally Conduct medical review of promotional materials With oversight, contributes to the development of brand strategies May act as a docent on investigator-initiated studies Actively contributes to the development of the TA EE Engagement Plan Assist in the development of scientifically accurate marketing materials, medical education programs, advisories, and symposia.

Initiate research projects and drive them to completion, resulting in high quality publications Keep abreast of professional information and technology through conferences and/or medical literature and acts as a therapeutic area resource.

Ensure budgets, timelines, compliance requirements are factored into programs’ scientific activities Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures Level of position will commensurate based on the experience/education of the candidate Qualifications For an Assistant Medical Director a MD is required and for Associate Scientific Director a PhD or PharmD degree is required.
