Associate Scientist/Scientist – Pharmacodynamics/Translational Science

Arcus Biosciences was founded on the vision of creating new cancer therapeutics through the utilization of unexploited insights in immunology.

The company was formed in 2015 by a group of seasoned researchers from the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

Arcus is a tight knit interdisciplinary team and the successful applicant will work closely among researchers with different technical backgrounds in biology and as well as our clinical operations team.

The position offers a unique and unusual opportunity for professional development, gaining in-depth exposure to industrial drug discovery and development from an experienced and proven team.

We have an opening for an Associate Scientist/Scientist to work closely in a six-person team to evaluate patient samples from Arcus’ antibody and small molecule combination clinical studies.

The biomarker scientist will also work closely with our biology and immunology teams and present data at project team meetings to help inform key leadership decisions.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful independent assay development and a solid background in immunology, oncology and/or inflammation research.

Hands-on expertise in flow cytometry is essential.

Working knowledge and maintenance of a FACs CANTO and/or Fortessa along with data analysis using FlowJo and DIVA software is highly desirable.

Direct experience developing multicolor flow cytometry panels and intracellular staining, including phosphoflow would be advantageous.

The candidate should have demonstrated a wide range of technical expertise beyond flow cytometry, including: ELISA, PBMC purification, nucleic acid isolation and associated molecular biology techniques.

Familiarity with in vitro cell based assays utilizing human cells to measure biomarkers and evaluate drug efficacy is required.

This position requires excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills, coupled with aptitude and enthusiasm for collaboration, maintaining high quality data, and managing the integrity of our complex clinical trial datasets and sample records.

The role provides the opportunity to work closely with staff from clinical operations and CROs on the development of laboratory manuals and attend clinical study management team meetings.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, along with a solutions-based approach, flexibility, and the ability to focus and deliver on time-sensitive objectives.

The successful candidate will have BS or MS or equivalent education and, at least 8 years of experience in these areas.

Recent PhD graduates with experience in relevant life sciences disciplines with background appropriate for this position will also be considered.
