Caregiver / orderly

Foyer St-Paul de Bury Inc.

This is a Contract position in Bury, QC posted May 31, 2020.

Saint Paul’s Rest Home of Bury, in operation for more than 50 years,
is looking for

TWO (2) full-time (32 hours) or part-time caregivers
working in 8-hour shifts (morning, evening, night, and every other weekend).

The Home staff looks to the needs of the 9 elderly (autonomous and semi-autonomous) residents of the Home and looks after their safety under the supervision of the Manager or her deputy. he staff also takes part in the multiple usual tasks required in a Home which always put first its homely atmosphere and integration in the local community.

As the residents are mainly coming from the Eastern Townships English speaking community , the staff must be fluent enough in English to interact with the residents and in French to interact with the French speaking community, contractors, providers, etc.

  • Successful candidates must have, at least, the RCR and PDSB certificates.

However, EXCEPTIONALLY, Saint Paul’s Rest Home has been officially allowed to recruit interested individuals who do not yet hold the required qualifications under the condition that the new employees commit themselves (within a contract) to acquire the qualifications (paid for by the Home).
New members of the staff will be quickly won over by the unique atmosphere of St Paul’s and the support of the whole current staff and Board.

Candidates should be able to communicate in French with the community and in English with the residents, Moreover they should be able to work alone and assume responsibilities within their role.

Candidates should be able and willing to assume responsiblities towards the daily operation of the facility and th safety of residents, within the scope of standards and regulations, and quickly adapt to a community and familial environment.

Thanks to the early implementation of strict lock-down measures, the dedication of its staff towards the residents, and the help of the local community, Saint-Paul’s Rest Home of Bury managed its way without incident through the current epidemics of COVID-19.
