This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.


Reporting to the Director  Interprofessional Practice and Learning, Northern Zone. The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is responsible (in collaboration with key stakeholders) for the assessment, implementation, planning and evaluation and supportive application of existing and new clinical knowledge and the translation of knowledge to practice.  The CNE practices according to the Registered Nurses Act,  Nova Scotia College of Nursing, and Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses.  The CNE demonstrates competency in practice, program design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of education, leadership and professional practice.  The Clinical Nurse Educator exhibits the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors that aligns with the Interprofessional Practice and Learning Framework that supports collaborative person centred care within the NSHA.


Please note this position requires periodic travel to facilities within Nova Scotia.  Access to reliable transportation is required.


  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing, Master of Nursing /Health Care/Education completed or in progress (preferred)
  • Completed a minimum of three years clinical nursing experience, within the last five years, in a Primary Health Care/Family Practice setting required
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing, in good standing required
  • Current BCLS required
  • Leadership Development Education
  • Relevant CNA or other Specialty Certification as required or willingness to compete
  • Certificate of Adult Education Program (or willingness to complete)
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

Long assignment, full-time position, 75 hrs bi-weekly

Beginning June 29, 2020 with an expected end date of June 30, 2021 (Approximately 12 months)

Salary Information

$43.2666 – $51.0025 hourly
