JOB SUMMARY:

A Clinical Research Coordinator I position is available at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre / University Health Network in Toronto, Canada. This project is within the Hereditary Cancer research group and encompasses a variety of familial cancer research studies. Working under a Project Manager and reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Clinical Research Coordinator I collaborates with the Investigators and health care team to assume responsibility for the overall coordination and management of familial cancer research studies.

RESPONSIBILITIES Include:

  • Involvement in familial cancer research studies (e.g. BRCA, Lynch Syndrome, Neurofibromatosis, Li Fraumeni Syndrome and Von Hippel Lindau syndrome)
  • Recruitment of study participants (e.g. identify and screen potential subjects, coordinate patient visits, obtain informed consent, execution of study visit)
  • Planning, implementing and coordinating all aspects of data collection, source documentation and data entry per UHN policy and ICH/GCP guidelines
  • Database maintenance of clinical information for a variety of inherited conditions
  • Collaborating with team members on tasks related to participant recruitment and data maintenance
  • Coordinating with the Project Manger to execute administrative tasks, such as collection of regulatory documents, ethics submissions and general paperwork

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, or equivalent
  • Knowledge and interest in hereditary cancer and genetics is required
  • Minimum 3 years clinical and/or professional experience
  • Up to 1 year of clinical research experience, preferred
  • Experience with database maintenance and electronic patient record systems an asset
  • Knowledge of IHC/GCP guidelines, IATA shipping regulations and basic laboratory procedures an asset
  • Certification as a Clinical Research Professional an asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with high attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly, problem solve, set priorities and work independently
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office software, Word, Excel and Outlook
