Job Description Overview: Bakersfield Memorial Hospital is a 426 bed acute care medical center offering a full range of services including the Sarvanand Heart and Brain Center, Grossman Burn Center at Memorial Hospital, expanded maternity and family care, the Lauren Small Children’s Center, orthopedic services, wound care center, 24-hour emergency care and general/outpatient surgery.

Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift.

Assigns patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient’s condition and the employee’s skill level.

Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.

Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities: Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift.

Assigns patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient’s condition and the employee’s skill level.

Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care.

Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.

Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.

Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

#DHLeader Qualifications Education and Experience: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (e.g., ADN).

Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.

Preferred Experience: Previous Supervisory experience Prior acute care post anesthesia care unit caring for critically ill population.

Licensure: Registered Nursing License (RN) in state of practice, Basic Life Support (BLS), other credentials or credential modules may be required.
