Our faculty are dedicated to promoting excellence in all areas of pediatric cardiovascular care and extracorporeal technologies.

We are a comprehensive congenital heart care provider offering neonatal heart surgery and single ventricle palliation, surgery for adult congenital heart disease, advanced therapies for heart and lung failure including ECMO, ventricular assist device implantation, and heart & lung transplantation.

Under the direction of the ECMO Department management and according to UNCH and departmental policies and procedures, the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Specialist is responsible for all aspects of monitoring and troubleshooting the ECMO circuit and related equipment during the treatment period.

The ECMO Specialist is also responsible for collaborating with bedside RN €™s, physicians, and other members of the health care team to coordinate care for these very complex patients.

Prefer two or more years of Pediatric Critical Care experience, Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience, or ECMO management experience.

Knowledge of hemodynamic principles relating to ECMO such as flow, resistance, perfusion, and gas exchange.

Knowledge regarding the pharmacology of vasoactive infusions.
