Description of WorkSalary Grade: GN08LPN licensure in North Carolina, Compact State Licensure, or pending licensure after graduation from a nursing program is required.We are accepting “graduate” temporary permits! Since testing centers for NCLEX are temporarily closed, NCBON has reinstituted the “Graduate Nurse” status for NC graduates. See Minimum Education and Experience Requirements section below for more details.The Licensed Practical Nurse assists the Registered Nurse, Medical and Psychiatric Team in meeting each individual patient’s practicable level of independence and function through medical and psychosocial intervention, administering medication and evaluating the patient’s response to care. Licensed Practical Nurse will take part in interdisciplinary team process, assist in managing difficult behavior and provide guidance to Health Care Technicians (Nurse Aide I) during day to day activity in daily living.Longleaf Neuro Medical Treatment Center (LNMTC) is a certified Medicare and Medicaid facility nursing home that provides a continuum of care to both adults with severe and persistent mental illness that also have long-term medical conditions requiring residential, medical and nursing care, and to adults with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or other related dementia. LNMTC facilitates high quality skilled and intermediate nursing care throughout four Nursing Unit Floors and an Alzheimer’s Unit that operates 24 hours seven days a week, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts.See more of Longleaf and what our employees have to say about it!https://vimeo.com/239654418This posting is for multiple vacancies of Licensed Practical Nurse on various floors and shifts at Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center.The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), in collaboration with our partners, provides essential human services to improve the health, safety and well-being of all North Carolinians.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies* Working knowledge of nursing techniques, procedures, theory and practices.* Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health and safety practices.* Working knowledge of proper dosage, effects & contraindications.* Skill in routine medical procedures (i.e. basic wound care including cleaning and bandaging injured areas, taking vital signs, such as blood pressure temperature, and weight, collect specimens, etc.).* Skill in preparing and administering medications.* Skill in guiding and counseling subordinate staff on daily routines.* Skill providing direct nursing care within scope of practice.* Knowledge of observing and evaluating patient’s condition.* Knowledge of instructing patients in routine medical care.* Skill in responding to potentially life threatening situations in a calm and orderly manner.* Skill in demonstrating a professional and caring approach.* Skill in communicating effectively with patients and families orally and in written form.Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsLicensed to practice as a Practical Nurse in the state of North Carolina.ORGraduate Temporary PermitAbout the Graduate Temporary Permit from the NC Board of Nursing:The testing centers for the NCLEX exam have temporarily been closed, and in order to support the current critical needs for LPNs and RNs during the COVID-19 pandemic, NCBON has reinstituted the “Graduate Nurse” status for new North Carolina graduates. Program Directors of Schools of Nursing will determine whether individual students have mastered the required competencies for program completion. Once the Program Director deems a student “eligible for graduation”, the individual can apply to NCBON for a “graduate” temporary permit. The temporary permit will allow the graduate nurse (RN and LPN) to practice to their full scope, provided they have RN supervision.
