Medical Surgical RN

Magnolia Regional Medical Center

This is a Contract position in Magnolia, AR posted June 11, 2020.

Position Summary: Responsible for all nursing care provided to the patient and significant other.

Essential Functions: Add at least one problem to the problem list from the information obtained from the assessment and from other healthcare practitioners on inpatient units.

Checks off MD orders against Medact and pharmacy orders.

Completes or ensures the accuracy of medication reconciliation Provides nursing care as planned on the Medact on inpatient units.

Accurately documents care given in the EHR Flowchart according to policy & procedure.

Administers ordered medications according to policies and procedures, ensuring the safety of the patient.

Maintains →85% medication verification compliance rate.

Inserts IV catheters, set up, hangs, monitors and discontinues IV’s and hangs IV piggyback medications as needed.

Documents start and stop times on IVPB, IV pushes and boluses.

Provides education to the patient and significant other regarding their needs for care, follow up, disease process, and discharge planning through patient education documents under the education tab in EHR.

Monitors the patient’s progress and condition, and reports any untoward changes to the physician.

Participates as a member of the patient care team, rounding with the physicians as possible, assists with treatments and procedures, exams, and incorporates the patient/significant other’s needs in care.

Supervises other nursing staff.

Coordinates and evaluates their care of the patients.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor/Director.

REQUIREMENTS: Education and Training: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing resulting in the eligibility of sitting for the Registered Nurse exam.

Experience: Prefer at least one year of experience as an RN in a hospital setting.

Licensure, Registration, Certification: Licensed as an RN in the State of Arkansas CPR Certified Continuing Health and Education: Comply with standards as set forth by state and federal agencies, and hospital requirements including annual TB skin test and educational in-services.

Other: Nurses will be on call on their shift when the census is low and will be paid at the current on-call pay rate.

(Premium pay is offered in qualifying scheduled additional shifts in an effort to ensure adequate staffing of patient care areas.

If a nurse is off duty and takes call on an unscheduled shift, Nurse will be eligible for call back pay.) Because this job is considered safety-sensitive, a drug screen test will be required prior to employment and for cause.
