Position Title: Research Assistant

Position Summary

The Public Safety Personnel Internet-delivered Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (PSPNET) team is located at the University of Regina and part of the Canadian Institute of Public Safety Research and Treatment (CIPSRT) funded by Public Safety Canada. The PSPNET team is led by Dr. Heather Hadjistavropoulos, one of Canada’s foremost leaders on ICBT. The team consists of both clinicians and researchers who are developing, implementing and evaluating ICBT to help current and former public safety personnel (PSP) to improve their mental health and wellbeing. ICBT typically begins with an online and telephone screening. ICBT itself involves patients reviewing psychoeducational materials over the internet and therapists providing support and directing therapeutic activities via secure messaging and phone calls.

The research assistant will work with the PSPNET team. The assistant will be involved in assisting with the delivery of ICBT (e.g., advertising ICBT, screening for ICBT) as well as research related to ICBT (e.g., preparation of ethics applications, recruitment of participants, data collection, data entry, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, write-up of results for dissemination, creation of psychoeducational materials using various methods, organization of research materials, literature reviews, project management) and other related responsibilities. This job is ideal for the graduate who has recently completed an honours degree and is seeking experience in research and clinical work that would prepare the student for future graduate work or applied jobs. Supervision and Training will be provided in this position.

Position Requirements

a) Completed BA Honours in Psychology;
b) Must have strong communication skills (oral and written);
c) Must have strong interpersonal skills;
d) Must have strong organizational skills;
b) Knowledge of cognitive behaviour therapy, depression and anxiety, ethics, assessment;
c) Advanced computer skills preferred (e.g., Word, Excel, web page management, social media);
d) Experience with research design & ethics applications;
e) Be familiar with social media (twitter, instagram, Facebook);
f) Experience with recruitment of participants and data collection within the area of mental health;
g) Experience with SPSS, reference management;
g) Experience with qualitative or quantitative analysis preferred;
h) Project management experience an asset;
i) Past experience with dissemination of research (e.g., presentations, preparation of manuscripts) an asset.
j) Bilingual in French/English is an asset.

Work Hours

This position will be full-time (Monday to Friday) from now to May 31, 2021 with the possibility of extension depending on funds.
