RN PPE Super User – TFT & TPT – Pandemic Support

Position: RN Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) SuperUser

Department: Pandemic Support Department

Status:  Temporary Full-time & Temporary Part-time positions available. Contract is for 3 months with potential to be extended.

Hours:  Monday to Sunday – Various rotating 8 & 12 hour shifts (hours subject to change based on operational needs)

This is what you’ll be doing:

The RN PPE SuperUser is an ambassador for the preservation, conservation and appropriate use of PPE supplies and levels at Halton Healthcare.

This supportive role is available 24/7 at all three hospitals to ensure staff and physicians have required PPE, to conduct regular rounding to observe practices related to donning, doffing and conservation strategies and to maintain transactional logsheets as necessary.

The RN PPE SuperUser will participate in unit and department huddles to share and discuss any changes in practice specific to new information or directives. The RN PPE SuperUser will assist the RPN PPE SuperUser with complex clinical decision making.

The position will also ensure PPE Code Bundles are available to and replenished on units/departments for ready access and will attend all Clinical Code events with additional PPE should it be required.

The RN PPE SuperUser will report to the Office of Professional Practice in the Pandemic Support Department and will collaborate with Patient Care Managers, Professional Practice Clinicians and other professional disciplines and departments as required. The RN PPE SuperUser will provide expertise to the RPN PPE SuperUser in specialized areas when dealing with complex clinical practice.

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • RN experience required
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control best practices and clinical practice guidelines
  • Expertise in donning and doffing PPE
  • Excellent inter-professional and communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills with relevant experience championing and coaching specific to an initiative
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision
  • Creative and resourceful
  • Ability to prioritize/organize competing priorities and adapt to change
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuing education
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record

Salary: $33.23 to $47.57 per hour
