Staff nurse – upmc mercy neuro rehab opportunities!

Job Description Located in downtown Pittsburgh, UPMC Mercy is an urban facility full of opportunities for graduate nurses and seasoned nurses looking to take the next step in their career!

We are hiring full-time Staff Nurses to support our Neuro Rehab departments!

As one of the leading rehabilitation programs in the United States, patients of the UPMC Mercy Rehabilitation Institute have access to state-of-the-art technology and comprehensive services to assist with recovery.

We recognize that each patient’s needs are different and have a dedicated patient care team that includes: * Rehabilitation nurses who manage various aspects of the patients’ care and education * Physiatrist who oversees rehabilitation techniques, medical management and methods of treating and preventing impairment in conjunction with UPMC Mercy * Physical therapists who focus on restoring movement and function * Occupational therapists who work with the patients on recovering skills needed for everyday living * Speech language pathologists who work with communication, swallowing, and cognition * Case Managers who help direct each patient’s plan of care * Neuropsychologists who help treat a patient’s memory, thinking, and concentration Our Rehab Brain Injury unit is an 18-bed unit where each patient receives both an individualized and multidisciplinary approach to brain injury care.

Brain Injury can lead to physical disabilities, as well as long-term problems with thinking, memory, behavior, and social interactions.

Our staff is specifically trained to focus on the patient’s impairments, functional limitations, and participation restrictions, to guide them to the next stage of recovery.

Our Brain Injury team is specially trained in treating patients with disorders of the consciousness (DOC) after traumatic and non-traumatic brain injury.

UPMC Mercy is a dedicated Comprehensive Stroke Center as accredited by the Joint Commission.

In our 24-bed Rehab Stroke unit, our multidisciplinary team is specially trained to collaborate with patients and family members to create and meet both short-term and long-term goals.

Purpose The Staff Nurse provides highly competent patient care and treatment while demonstrating empathy and a passion for learning.

A role that requires independent judgment, fluent communication, and candid partnership, the Staff Nurse establishes relationships with physicians, other care providers, patients, and patients’ families in order to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

As a Staff Nurse and a member of the care delivery team, you will set the standards for the level and quality of nursing care, and possess authority and accountability for its provision.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the My Nursing Career Ladder based on their individual experience and education.

Title and salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience.

Six months experience is required for Professional Staff Nurses; Graduate Nurses may be hired at the Staff Nurse level until required experience is obtained (minimum salary for GNs is $26.74/hour) GNs must be eligible for State Board Licensure.
