Job DescriptionOverview Unit Description Medical Unit Enjoy your nursing career on a 33-bed Adult Med/Surg unit that provides care to adult and geriatric medical patients.
R3E works closely with the Hospitalist physicians and the Hildreth Teaching Service Residents.
Patients are commonly admitted for a multitude of different medical diagnosis ranging from infections, COPD, Pneumonia, sepsis, gastrointestinal complications, substance abuse withdrawal, diabetic complications and more.

* US News & World Report: 6th best hospital in PA * Vizent Graduate Nurse Residency Program for all new RN grad Responsibilities Job Duties * Supports the department/unit with functions such as: answering phones, responding to call lights and assisting family members with location of patients * Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of utility rooms, linen rooms and kitchen; maintains clutter-free hallways and patient rooms.
* Maintains a stocked patient care environment.
* Serves as resource for clinical systems use to other healthcare team members.
* Enters patient charges appropriately per unit routine.
* Documents in the EMR according to established procedures.
* Follows procedures for reporting problems with computer use and performs downtime procedure when necessary.
* Reviews and discusses patient care with assigned Registered Nurse.
* Recognizes and promptly reports changes in patient’s condition to the RN in a clear and concise manner, documents care activity and observations accurately.
* Provides individualized patient care within the scope of practice in an acceptable time-frame, according to department and hospital policy and procedure ensuring the comfort of the patient.
* Organizes and prioritizes age related patient care activities according to patient needs.
* Maintains a courteous, positive approach with patients and families, treating them with dignity, providing an atmosphere of trust, respect and privacy during delivery of patient care.
* Demonstrates awareness of teaching plan for assigned patients and assists in the implementation of the plan at a basic level.
* Practices good infection control techniques at all times.
* Reports any unsafe equipment and hazards to appropriate personnel as soon as possible.
* Utilizes appropriate personal protective devices at all times.
* Ensures new equipment is approved by the biomedical department before using for patient care.
Qualifications Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Previous healthcare experience preferredSDL2017
